Para Mike

Hace algunos días falleció la abuelita de mi querido amigo Mike Duckwall. Ella fue como su madre y siempre fueron muy unidos. Obviamente esta separación temporal lo puso muy triste y aunque ahora está ya más sereno y resignado la extraña mucho. Últimamente ha estado sintiendo su ausencia y su tristeza se evidenció. Quiero compartir con todos (los que entienden el idioma inglés) el obituario que la familia Duckwall publicó en el diario de Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA.

Lucile Mable Duckwall

Lucile Mable Duckwall, 92, of Stillwater, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, in Stillwater Medical Center.
Services will be in First Church of the Nazarene Thursday at 2 p.m. The Revs. Henry Siems and David Frees will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born June 21, 1913, in Stillwater, to Fred and Pearl (Clay) Ash. She married Ralph Gittings Duckwall Sept. 26, 1934, in Guthrie. He died May 26, 2000.
She attended Eureka School and later Pleasant Valley, where she graduated from high school. While on the way to the Oklahoma State Fair, she and her husband were married. They were co-owners and operators of Duckwall Furniture and Appliance for 25 years. She then worked at CREC for 10 years. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles. For 20 years, she taught Sunday school for junior age kids and was a big influence in their lives. She served as local missionary president at First Church of the Nazarene for many years.
Even when she was homebound, she stay connected to her church through a prayer chain and tapes of the services that were brought to her home. She was a loving mother and enjoyed being with her family. Her hugs, kisses and “I love yous” will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She belonged to First Church of the Nazarene.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one brother, James Ash and two sisters, Velma Lucksted and Nona Human.
She is survived by two sons, Don Duckwall and his wife, Betty, of Stillwater and R.J. Duckwall and his wife, Marilyn, of Ponca City; five grandchildren, Mike Duckwall of Stillwater, Bob Duckwall and his wife, Debby, of Ponca City, Donna Pebsworth and her husband, Steve, of Vancouver, Wash., Ron Duckwall and his wife, Ginger, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Missy Hitch and her husband, Kelley, of Stillwater; 11 great-grandchildren and her longtime helper and friend, Tina Butler.
Pallbearers will be Mike Duckwall, Kelley Hitch, Bob Duckwall, Ron Duckwall, Joshua Duckwall and Tyler King.
Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1023 E. Will Rogers, Stillwater, OK 74075.
